R. GRAHAM ZOPPI | CRIMINAL DEFENCE

"One of the best young criminal lawyers...” – Toronto provincial court judge (retired)

Even before graduating from law school, Graham Zoppi was destined for the criminal coutroom.  He was declared best litigator in the prestigious Zuber Moot at the University of Windsor, and was named to his law school’s team in the Gale Cup, a national level competition of the country’s best young litigators.

Following his graduation from law school near the top of his class, criminal lawyer Graham Zoppi started his legal career with the prestigious position of “articles of clerkship” for the judges of the Superior Court of Ontario.  There, he worked closely with the judiciary, and learned what goes on behind closed doors in the decision making process of the court.

Following his articles, Graham Zoppi went on to work as an assistant Crown Attorney with the Ministry of the Attorney General.  As a former Crown Attorney, Mr. Zoppi’s duties consisted primarily of conducting appeals at the Ontario Court of Appeal, the highest court in the province, as well as conducting bail hearings and criminal trials.  This experience as a former prosecutor provides Mr. Zoppi with insight not available to most other criminal lawyers.

Mr. Zoppi then moved to the private bar to work with the prominent firm of Blake, Cassels, & Graydon.  As part of their top tier litigation department, Mr. Zoppi worked on criminal, quasi-criminal, and Ontario Securities Commission matters, along with other white collar fraud and negligence cases.

For the last ten years Mr. Zoppi has dedicated himself solely to the practice of criminal defence.  He regularly appears at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court, and the Court of Appeal.  Mr. Zoppi’s commitment to providing clients with the best defence possible, has had him dubbed by one retired provincial court judge as “one of the best young criminal lawyers” in the city.
